White Fang is a novel by American author Jack London
(1876–1916) — and the name of the book's eponymous
character, a wild wolfdog. First serialized in Outing magazine, it was
published in 1906. The story details White Fang's journey to
domestication in Yukon Territory and the Northwest Territories during
the 1890s Klondike Gold Rush. It is a companion novel (and a thematic
mirror) to London's best-known work, The Call of the Wild, which is
about a kidnapped, domesticated dog embracing his wild ancestry to
survive and thrive in the wild.

Terrible Layout
Very disappointed and will be returning. The layout is just awful. Crowded text, no indentation, and not even any age numbers?!! I purchased this printing as it was advertised as "illustrated", and felt my son would enjoy having some pictures while reading this excellent story (a favorite from my own youth). There are approximately eight illustrations in the book, and they all appear to be of very poor quality - almost look like photocopies. I don't know who typeset this edition or why they made the offputting choices they did, but I highly recommend purchasing a standard regular publishing house edition instead.

Classic Jack London
Part dog and part wolf, White Fang is, along with his mother Kiche, the sole survivor of his pack. When he and Kiche are taken in by an Indian tribe, White Fang begins a journey from Wild to Domesticated that is long, arduous, and painful.
White Fang by Jack London is a companion to London’s Call of the Wild, told mostly from the animal’s point of view. This reissue of a London classic has some editorial revisions, according to the publishers, but retains the author’s voice and ability to portray the untamed frontier of his day. For a reader who wants to be introduced, or as in my case, reintroduced, to a classical American literary figure, this book is an excellent jumping off point. The characters, though animal, are portrayed in terms that humans can understand, but without ‘humanizing’ them.
This book shows why Jack London was one of the most regarded authors of his time. I received a free copy of this book, and without hesitation, give it five stars.

I was planning on using this book as a read aloud with illustrations to share with my class and am so disappointed that there are no illustrations
If you are expecting this version to be illustrated (as it states clearly in the item name) DO NOT BUY! There is not a single illustration in the entire 202 pages of the book. I was planning on using this book as a read aloud with illustrations to share with my class and am so disappointed that there are no illustrations, which was the only reason I chose to purchase this book. I have requested a refund.

FIND ANOTHER DOWNLOAD! DO NOT BUY THIS ONE!
Whatever computer program was used to create this ebook FAILED and I'm sure Jack London is rolling over in his grave at the supreme massacre of his work. My son and I read a chapter every night before bed - we're half way through and I STILL stumble over some of the combinations of words. I've attached a picture to this review and for the record I simply opened up my Kindle to the page we're actually on and snapped it. I didn't try to search for a particularly bad page. It's like this throughout. Unlessof course youdon't mind readingbooks when they're typedlike this...

Maybe, maybe not...
Use caution... if you have difficulty with small print, you may want to choose another printer. The print is SMALL, although not as small as other books. Everything else so far is fine. Cover is quite nice, an the pages are a reasonable thickness.

I READ THIS MUCH BELOVED STORY BEFORE BUT NEEDED A BREAK FROM ANOTHER BOOK...
As I said, I was deeply into Les Miserables, both the Kindle version and the Audible version, but the author goes off into several long five hour philosophy tangents and I needed a break from one of these. There was none finer than “White Fang.” Yes, I have read several of Jack London’s wonderful books before, and each reading has been wonderful. Having the Audible to go with the Kindle version made this current experience all the more terrific. I highly recommend combining the two mediums together for greater entertainment and increased comprehension.

THE WAY OF MEAT
I know it's a classic and it is a great story filled with amazing imagery. For that, I like it quite a bit.

But, to this reader, 3 sentences in every paragraph could be cut and the book could still hold together. Especially when Jack is talking about meat. We get it Jack! Animals eat meat and aren't all ceremonial about it!

Anyways... fairly entertaining book with some of the dryness you'd expect with the age. The first part of the book is a great hook and it all flows perfectly. Great adventure.

DO NOT BUY THIS EDITION
This is a review about this printing, not the novel itself which is a classic. The printing is HORRIBLE! The paragraphs have no indentation, the margins are incredibly thin (making sentences extra long, the spacing is terrible and I, am avid reader, do not want to read it as a result. My husband bought this for our 14 year old son and I can guarantee you he will not enjoy reading it simply due to the printing quality. Which, btw, was printed on June 20th, 2019 - the day my husband purchased it. I would bet this is a non-official edition of the book and would never buy from this bookseller again.

Not really a “book”
This is a huge manuscript style book. Not what I was expecting. Looks like someone printed it off the computer and bound it.

Still a classic.
This book tells the story of White Fang, a dog-wolf born in the Yukon Territory in the Gold Rush days. From his puppyhood among a Native tribe his adventurous life makes one wonder if dogs, like cats, don’t also have 9 lives.
This book delves into the behaviors of humankind towards dumb animals: some behave harshly due to the extreme realities of life in the wilderness and their dependence on their animals for their own survival; others are downright beastly themselves, seeing a strong, ferocious animal merely as a means to their own wealth; still others see an animal as a fellow earthly creature, deserving of care, affection, and even respect.
If you like historical fiction, tales of frontier adventures, or animal stories, you might like this book. Be warned though, some parts are quite violent in man-to-animal and dog-to-dog fights.

The story is awesome (of course), but the DOLPHIN edited version is horrible...

Horrible editing. Almost a complete lack of punctuation. About the only thing done right is the period at the end of each paragraph. It’s a struggle to read, especially when there is dialog as there are no quotes and commas to let you know when the dialog starts and stops.

Again, this is for the DOLPHIN Classics Publishing version. I cannot speak to the others.

Not London’s original writing. Awful that Amazon lists it on their site!
Should be a minus five score. Lousy edition. Reads as if it was a first translated into some other language and back into English. And very poorly! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS EDITION. Shame on Amazon for allowing this tripe to be sold under their name.

Perils of public domain
It’s always risky to buy a printout of a book old enough to be public domain; comparing this edition to the Project Gutenberg text, it seems that the chapter headings are misplaced. I bought it for my son for school, and it’s a problem for him if it’s not all there; with some of the book’s structure possibly scattered, it’s hard for him to keep track of his place in the novel. That said, paper and print quality seem just fine.

Too many typos.
I love this book as a child but the cover with the white wolf on it as too many words that run together. If someone was to let a child read this book it wouldn't be a good experience

I couldn't finish reading it. It's just a story about dog that got kidnapped, and then lived in Canada (or was it Alaska). I couldn't get interested in it.

My ten year old daughter had to read this book for her literature book report. She had a hard time with it because she said it was very boring and slow at getting to the main points of the story.
