"William Murray provides a unique perspective that should be
read, particularly by America's youth, at a time central planners are
once again promising utopian dreams at a cost to the most productive
among us.” ―Governor Mike Huckabee

Utopian dreamers are deceived
and deceiving. Their “fight for the people” rhetoric may sound good at
first, but history proves egalitarian governments and the cultures they
try to create destroy freedom, destroy creativity, destroy human lives,
create poverty and misery, and often spread beyond their borders to
bring others under slavery. Utopians believe that through their own
personal brilliance a better society can be created on earth. When the
belief in man as a creation in the image of God is completely rejected,
the use of slavery and mass execution can be justified in the name of
the creation of a utopian state for the masses. Pol Pot, Vladimir Lenin,
Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, Mao Tse-tung―together these so-called
visionaries through their fanciful policies are responsible for the
deaths of millions of people.

In Utopian Road to Hell
William J. Murray, son of atheist apologist Madelyn Murray O’Hair,
describes the totalitarians throughout history and the current utopians
who are determined to engage in social engineering to control the lives
of every person on earth. From Marx to Hitler, Murray explains the
progression of socialist engineering from its occultist roots to the
extreme madness of the Nazis’ nationalistic racism. From Margaret
Sanger’s Planned Parenthood and Saul Alinsky’s Rules for
Radicals
, the rebellious desire to be free from morality drives the
“at-any-cost” campaigns such as abortion on demand, no-fault divorce,
same-sex marriage, and overreaching government provisions. From Woodrow
Wilson’s “living document” distortion of the Constitution and his income
tax to FDR’s New Deal to Obama’s executive orders, those who seek
centralized power typically do so by proclaiming some utopian scheme
that they claim will perfect mankind and eliminate competition, greed,
poverty, and war.

William J. Murray masterfully educates us on the
utopians’ swath of destruction throughout history and warns us of the
dangers of present-day utopians fighting to hold power. We must heed the
warning of George Washington when he said in his 1796 Farewell
Address
that it is important for those entrusted with the
administration of this great and free nation, “to confine themselves
within their respective constitutional spheres, avoiding in the exercise
of the powers of one department to encroach upon another.” We must
reclaim the freedom of the individual to avoid the continued path down
the utopian road to hell.

I highly recommend this book written, surprisingly, by the son of the atheist crusader Madalyne Murray O'Hair. In this 2016 publication, William (Bill) J. Murray surveys utopian ideologies such as Plato's REPUBLIC and Sir Thomas More's UTOPIA; utopian societies such as Francois Noel Babeuf's "conspiracy of equals" and Marx's "dictatorship of the proletariat;" and modern iterations of utopian philosophies expressed in cultural Marxism and Progressive politics. This work is a good addition to any library, as a primer, as a review, and as a reference. ...more

I enjoyed some of the commentary about the threat that extremist collectivism poses to global health and freedom. However I found most of the narrative to be very repetitive and lacking in significant substance.

This was incredibly insightful! A good start into the differences between the collectivist ideology and liberty. Definitely a recommended read to anyone!

I spent more time reading each page of this book than any other book I have read lately. No I was not forcing myself to read boring pages, I was pausing to reflect on so many pages that I felt like I was writing this book. I have made more than 50 notes on paper so as to not annotate this book (so I can generate fresh perspective when I reread it). He covers the socialist agenda from research that I have been following over the last 20 years. Some of his conclusions are different from my take I spent more time reading each page of this book than any other book I have read lately. He covers the socialist agenda from research that I have been following over the last 20 years. Some of his conclusions are different from my take aways, but all are faultlessly logical. I am a little miffed because this is the book I would have written from my research. But now I get to add his ideas into a greater tome. :>)
Most modern people were raised with the concept of Utopia as a political system creating heaven on earth. Wrong! Utopia is hell on earth. This book explores all the ramifications of the fanatic efforts to create a perfect society.
Perfect for whom? The rulers have their unstated goal – absolute power. But the ruled are crushed under the totalitarian boot – forever! The various forms of socialism through history from Plato, through the French Revolution guillotine, through the soviet, fascist, red, Khmer, and democratic socialism are examined. Hundreds of millions of people were sacrificed to the evil ideology of socialism attempting to create utopia. The ties with Satanism, perversion, environmentalism, propaganda, the U.N. and world wide cabals (George Soros) with successful socialist advances are surveyed. He exposes the foul lives of early totalitarians like Sanger (Planned Parenthood), Baldwin (ACLU), John Dewey (education), Rachel Carson (Silent Spring), Harry Hay (gay rights), George Soros and Saul Alinsky (Obama mentor and “Rules for Radicles”).
He looks at some of the ideological gurus like Marx, Plato, Schiller, Rousseau, and Lycurgus (Sparta) – at their less than savory lives leading to their ideology. He also touches on fiction that describes life in totalitarian worlds like 1984 (Orwell), Brave New World (Huxley), Utopia (More), Philip Dru: Administrator…(Edward House) and Looking Backward: 2000- 1887 (Bellamy). Finally he shows the damage done by socialist presidents like Woodrow Wilson, FDR, LBJ, Clinton and (of course) Obama.
Much of the news of the last 50 years that our media has whitewashed for us is explored.
William J Murray does show us what the alternative to socialist slavery could be when he explores some writings by Tocqueville, Hayek, Friedman, Franklin and Washington. But then as we work through the potential damage, the lives already destroyed and the scary future of today’s politics the overall effect for me is sadness and despair. I can only offer my apologies to the future generation that has lost so much and is on track to lose all freedom that is left.
Last note - in the last 3 pages he states “Canada has democracy but no freedom” – I agree. But I disagree that the US is any closer to freedom than we are. Much of his book probes the socialist take over in American Politics. Most incidents are reflected by Canadian politics and rulers – especially Trudeau 1 & 2. But he doesn’t make the case that our government is worse. The potential for a return of freedom are very bleak in all his not yet socialist country examples.

Excellent book that highlights the dangers of government dependency. Author looks at the consequence of surrendering personal freedom and costs of tyranny in its many forms. Ultimately the author seeks to expose the growing dependency of the American people on the government and the risks of doing so. This is a well reasoned argument for personal freedom and responsibility akin to what the founding fathers originally intended.

Summaries of multiple major organizers of political agendas. Leaders that limit individual freedoms by promoting their own agendas. Communist, socialist, marxist, and all power obsessed utopians who failed in bringing the benefits of their ideas to their followers. Written by the son of Madelyn Murray O'hare who raised the author as a Marxist. Chilling narratives.
