LOTS of Phase 1 Recipes to choose from ~
I highly recommend getting the "The South Beach Diet" book and read that thoroughly, but I do recommend THIS cookbook to use in conjunction with it. Some recipes I prefer over others, but all are tried & tested.

Since Phase 1 is the most difficult of the 3 Phases, I will only list Phase 1 recipes to help you determine if this is the Cookbook for you.

Simple, delicious meals with this cookbook
If you're not careful, you might mistake this for a regular cookbook rather than a diet one. My wife, who is not on a diet, has been enjoying these recipes as well. There's a wonderful variety in here. The recipes are simple and easy to fix. I like how each recipe is clearly marked to indicate the corresponding phase. Some miss the mark, but the majority are right on target. There's a heavy emphasis on flavor.

Nothing tastes good and it isn't really fast
I am very disappointed in this book. I don't find the recipes are that fast to make and so far, I have tried several and have found them to be tasteless. The Indian chicken was soupy and had no taste. The Vietnamese Pork Rolls simply would not stay together - what a mess! Pork Scaloppine with Herbs - bland. I loved the other books - This one let me down.

Painful read
I cant believe this book mentions quick and easy in the title, I feel like the book isn't written in English. The amount of times I have to Google something to find out what something means is a joke. No pictures of the final product... no step by step...Very frustrating

South Beach Diet does Really work!
I have been on the SBD since January lost 15 pounds in 4 months. I will never go back to eating the way I used to. The meal are very tasty and easy to make. Making these meal have gotten me to like cooking again. Only down side is that I have 4 kids and I almost always have to make them something different. I guess that is my fault as I allow for that. I. I could get 2 to eat the meal but the other 2 are so darn picky that it's just not worth the argument at dinner time. Again it's my fault for allowing the argument, so I don't blame the SBD cookbook. Others have complained that this book doesn't break down the recipes into the different phases. It actually does in the back of the book you will find the different phases with a list of food that are broken down into categories. The only thing I think SB should have done different is to have pictures of each recipe. I love to have a visual of what I am making.

In my opinion, the recipes taste bland at best and horrible at worst. Really a disappointment.

I lost six pounds almost right away, and my husband and son lost weight, too. Now why did I abandon this diet when I lost weight quickly and was never hungry? Oh, right: desserts and author Dr. Arthur Agatson’s unreasonable opposition to pineapple and pumpkin. OK, well, mostly desserts.

But now I really want to lose weight, and I’m willing to sacrifice desserts and pumpkin (although not pineapple). And Agatson includes some really luscious recipes. He claims that you won’t feel as if you’re on a diet, and he’s right. You won’t be hungry and the recipes don’t rely on weird ingredients like chia seeds, watery cabbage soups or any other stumbling blocks to weight loss. And, as a working mom, I can’t spend two hours getting food on the dinner table. This time I hope that I get it right. ...more

Skip the digital version! It's Worth It!
Book is Great but don't get the digital edition. I first ordered the digital edition of this and I so regretted it as I could not easily reference the meal plans and print out each one was more costly than ordering the print version. I ended up ordering the print version which is so much nicer, you can put tabs, take it with you to the grocery store and don't have to print out meals. I love the meals are fast and easy as I hate to cook, so this is a life saver and will help me actually stick to this new diet.

I wish they had put all the meal plans for each phase in one section but they don't they have them separated by meal type meaning, they lump phases 1, 2, and 3 together under meal types like salads. It makes it harder to navigate, and I use a lot of tabs to mark my sections. Overall it is well worth it and I got a like new used one with free prime shipping form just under $7. Can't beat that.

I hope this helps you, Cheers and Vidimo Se!

Excellent recipes even if you're not on a diet
I bought this cookbook in the kindle edition because I wanted healthy recipes that would be easy to prepare but not taste like diet recipes. I was not disappointed. This book is full of imaginative, flavorful cooking without a lot of fat and extra calories. But it doesn't deny you interesting tastes. On the contrary, the food is delicious. The emphasis is on fresh ingredients and easy preparation. Dishes like Indian chicken and turkey meatballs are delicious and easy. The book works well on kindle. The contents at the beginning allows you to click on a content title and move immediately to that section which makes the book easy to navigate. There are some photographs although not a lot. I would prefer more pictures but enjoy the few that are there. If you are trying to lose weight, or just trying to eat healthy and maintain your weight, this is an excellent cookbook.

30 minutes preparation, three hours shopping
This book touts its thirty minute recipes. And, truly they may take thirty minutes to prepare. But the shopping for ingredients takes much longer. Items like baba ghanoush, celeriac, chipotles in adobo, curry paste and chickpea flour are not available at my local grocery. I have had to visit specialty shops to purchase some of them. In addition, I am fairly certain that a recipe is not needed to make a chicken sandwich and other such items that pad the book. On the positive side, I appreciated the glossary (of ingredients) as so many were unfamiliar, and for those adhering strictly to the South Beach Diet, recipes are divided, within their categories, into those suitable for phases one, two and three.

I have found that any diet I follow has to be one I can integrate into my day-to-day lifestyle and meal plans. I cook from this book for my family for dinner so I can have satisfying meals for my own weight loss and cook healthy for the rest of the family. This cookbook allows me to do as much of my own meal prep as I can, and that keeps us away from processed or fast foods.

Title is true!
The challenge of staying on track with South Beach seems to be finding enough variety to keep things interesting. This book offers a great selection of healthy, QUICK recipes so you're not spending every waking moment attending to your diet. Unlike the original South Beach Diet book, this book is not organized by phases. It's divided into "breakfast", "soups & salads", "poultry", "meats", "seafood", "desserts", and a vegetarian section. There's no particular order of recipes within those divisions but there's a good balance between phase 1 and phase 2 recipes. There aren't as many phase 3 recipes, but by the time you get to phase 3, you probably don't need too many special recipes.
The pages are heavy & glossy with appetizing color pictures of the recipes. The intro to the book offers longer descriptions of certain foods that are common to the diet, explaining their benefits. Overall, I appreciated the format of the book and the true-to-title recipes. On the downside, some of the recipes required ingredients that weren't normally in my pantry (asian fish sauce, coconut milk, etc) or meats that were a bit pricier than I could justify (leg of lamb). I'd still recommend this book not just for South Beach dieters, but for healthy eating in general. I'm continuously amazed at how delicious this diet can be!

Waste of MY $$
As someone that must watch their cholesterol intake, not one of the recipes in this book showed cholesterol

in the nutritional information. I gave this book away to someone that was not worried about their cholesterol.

This book doesn't include the structured guide that the first book provides. The recipes are great, but they aren't grouped by phase which would make it easier to plan the meals according to where you are in the diet.

I love this cook book
I love this cook book! My husband was getting bored with the flavor pallet near the end of week 1 phase 1. We got this just in time. Lots of different recipes which are filling, so you don't feel deprived. AND the majority of the ingredients are things I already had on hand, so no special trips to the grocery store. I really recommend the chicken curry salad and the Mexican chicken soup. They really helped add some dimension to phase 1. One warning - meat cooking times are not included in the prep time on some of the recipes - the recipe will call for chicken, cooked and cubed. So that's a little misleading, but otherwise, enjoy some excellent food.

Not really great on this book
Not really great on this book, I think their very 1st book was the best and led me into a weight loss program that has become a way of life for me. However, if your just starting out, you'll love this cookbook. It paves the way for making a lifesytle change ~~ The only way to do it...I would recommend this book !!!!

I tried some of the recipies and they were not that great. I did like the roasted chickpeas and I make and eat those all the time. Some recipies call for ingredients that I have to find a specialty store in order to acquire, but I'm not willing to go to the trouble. I borrowed the book and won't buy it.

As a low-carb dieter, this cookbook gave me some great recipe ideas. I even had 2 meals and 1 dessert prepared and portioned out in under an hour! That's a record for me when I'm cooking alone! I can't wait to try the chicken pot pie tomorrow and the coconut crispy cookies for a dessert tonight! (although mine aren't very crisp.. oops!)
