Can you really feel years younger & make unexplained symptoms
vanish with the click of a button — the “Airplane Mode” on your cell
phone?

Investigative Health Journalist Nicolas Pineault used to
think this all sounded like something only crazy people wearing tinfoil
hats would say.

But the overwhelming amount of independent
scientific evidence linking electromagnetic fields (EMFs) from wireless
technologies with increased risks of cancer, infertility, insomnia, and
depression sure has the uncanny ability to change a man’s mind.

The Non-Tinfoil Guide to EMFs is a simple and unconventional
book that will teach you exactly how to reduce your exposure to this
brand new 21st-century pollution without going back to the Stone
Age.

You will learn:

  • What your smartphone, your wifi
router and your microwave oven have in common (page 9)
  • Why
policy makers and scientists all worldwide don’t agree about whether
EMFs are dangerous or not (page 21)
  • Is Electro-Hypersensitivity
as popularized in the TV show “Better Call Saul” real? Or is it all
    psychological? (page 62)
  • Why carrying a cell phone in your
pocket can harm your fertility (201 studies prove it) (page 72)

  • The 1-click fix to reduce cellphone EMFs by 84% (page 142)

  • What is safer? Speakerphone, earbuds or a Bluetooth ear piece? (page
    155)
  • The #1 worst source of EMF radiation at home (page
    160)
  • Why baby monitors are worse than smartphones, and better
    alternatives (page 208)

It’s true. The jury is still out
about whether cellphone radiation is the new smoking or just a temporary
scare. But why take chances?

Instead, read The Non-Tinfoil
Guide to EMFs
— the technological seat belt you might just need to
use your new gadgets safely.

Reviews for The Non-Tinfoil Guide to EMFs: How to Fix Our Stupid Use of Technology:

NOT your typical EMFs book
This book is not what I expected.

I have read hundreds of articles and several books on EMFs, and virtually everything I've read has one (or more) of several problems:

1. It cherry picks the science (i.e. only takes the studies that support one's views and leaves out the rest)

2. It is infused with fear mongering and conspiracy-type stuff

3. It's based on anecdotes and speculation, with very little real science

This is the first truly scientific, evidence-based comprehensive guide to understanding the health dangers of EMFs.

And most importantly, it shows you the simple steps you need to take in your life to minimize or eliminate the dangers. The cool part is, these things are really very easy to do. So you don't have to be in fear all the time wearing a tinfoil hat and EMF-blocking clothing, or move to a place in the middle of nowhere to escape EMFs. You can eliminate the risks through just a few simple and easy steps.

Well done, Nick, on producing the best piece of scientific writing on EMFs that I've ever seen!

And to everyone reading, if you are interested in being healthy, do yourself a favor and buy this book right now.

one of the few books which will both ruin and save your life
This book is way ahead of it's time. WARNING: have your spouse read it before or you will have serious conflicts. I tried implementing some of the simple methods like switching off wifi when not in use, not having an ungrounded lamp a foot from our sleeping infant, etc. Now my wife thinks I am batsh*t crazy.
Making changes to a lifestyle centered around electronics is really hard for most people to accept. Everything in this book is correct, just not what people want to hear right now.

practical guide to minimizing these effects while still being able to enjoy the benefits of technology
I'm an osteopathic physician and expert in solving complex medical mysteries. Most of my patients have been suffering for years without a clear cause of their illness. Inflammation is invariably a major part of the picture. One of the most insidious causes of inflammation are EMFs. I've been talking to my patients about the hidden dangers of EMFs for years, but have had to piece together resources for them. Now I can refer them to The Non-Tinfoil Guide to EMFs knowing they are getting well-researched, scientifically sound information with clear action steps to minimize their health risks from EMF exposure. In The Non-Tinfoil Guide to EMFs, Nick shares the surprising truth about the potential negative effects of EMFs and has created a clear, practical guide to minimizing these effects while still being able to enjoy the benefits of technology. Following Nick's simple
suggestions can make a major difference in your health immediately.

Ideal for anyone new to this toxin but also very up to date for those of us who have been studying it a while
I already owned about 20 books on EMF health effects, as it is an important topic for me. I knew this one would be different after hearing Nick's interview on EMF Warriors. Being able to see a lot of the book via Amazon also helped me decide to buy 3 copies. One to gift, one to keep and one to share with the many people desperate to know more about this huge issue that is engulfing our world.

Ideal for anyone new to this toxin but also very up to date for those of us who have been studying it a while. Easy read for lay people as written by lay person who has done his homework and is a great communicator. And Nick has a sense of humor. Lots of great tips. There is a lot we can do for ourselves and especially the children and babies who are so much more vulnerable.

Please buy this book, join groups discussing the topic, and share what you learn with those you care about (and wider) before it is too late for everyone.

Very pleased to learn that Nick's big objective is to educate natural health practitioners about EMFs. Somehow this critical issue has "gone under the radar" for the majority i.e. it is very difficult to find a low EMF practice. It is not a topic included in natural health and especially not medical training, even though EMF illness is likely to be the biggest (emerging) man made epidemic the world has ever known.

Inaccurate with lazy, terrible use of citations
As someone with a degree in Electrical Engineering who specializes in Electromagnetic radiation, I can say that there are some fundamental flaws with this book. For one, his presentation of electromagnetic waves is inaccurate. More alarming is his terrible use of footnotes, throwing in baseless claims which he passes off as citations, and then citing them with broken links or the home page of a blog with hundreds of pages.

He seperates EM waves into "RF", "Magnetic", "Electric", and "Dirty Electricity". In reality, RF just means EM waves in a range of frequency, DE means EM waves in a range of frequencies, and Magnetic/Electric are two components of EM waves. Further, he usually doesn't specify the frequencies for the power density, electric fields, or magnetic fields being discussed. It would have been more accurate to classify EM fields into different frequencies and their power density, magnetic field, and electric field.

What bothered me more was his lazy and reckless use of citations. He would often make bold, baseless claims, and then give them a citation as if they a scientific fact. Then, when you click on the citation, you get a broken link, or a random blog url. If you'd want to check his sources for his claims, you'd have to hope the blog is still online, and then sort through hundreds of articles hoping that you can find the claim he's flogging.

Here is an example:
"We are exposed to a lot of EMF radiation from man-made sources -- at levels some say are approximately 10 billion times higher than back in the 1960s[30]"

When you click on the citation, what you get is:
"olgasheean.com, page 5"

If you go to olgasheean.com, there is no "page 5". It is a website with different sections of articles, and no way of easily finding the above claim.

This is very important for a number of reasons. This book is meant as an introduction to what looks to be a very serious issue that many people are skeptical about by default. By failing to properly cite some of his more outrageous claims, or by mixing in third hand testimony from questionable sources, it damages his credibility. It's like saying "aliens killed Kennedy", and then putting the source for this claim as "google.com". Most people are going to roll their eyes and take whatever he says with a grain of salt.

If he really cares about spreading positive awareness on this issue instead of adding to the flames of skepticism, he needs to take his book more seriously. The citations should be link specifically to individual pages (or works, talks, etc) where his claims are clearly visible. They should be properly formatted so someone looking to review them don't have to go on wild goose chases to find them. If he cannot, he should remove them. He should also gain a better understanding of EM waves, as misrepresenting them just makes him look like he doesn't know what he's talking about.

There are some aspects of the book which are good, including the chapter with a list of studies on the topic of EM. But until the author takes his presentation of this topic seriously, I fear this book will do more harm than good on the subject of EM-related health effect awareness.

Outstanding resource and solution guide, reports this Physician reviewer
As a practicing functional Medicine physician and wellness expert, I am constantly searching for the root cause of illness. This book is an OUTSTANDING resource to help enlightened doctors and their patients not only identify the origin of their symptoms, but also provide solutions and hacks to reduce the effects of EMFs in many varied environments. Nick has traveled the world and distilled thousands of hours of scientific research, lectures and presentations to create this easy to read gem full of tips, tricks, and TTTs ( three things to know.) His quirky sense of humor had me giggling as I read the entire book in a weekend. It will be recommended reading for my patients and colleagues alike. Excellent, highly referenced information and worth every one of the 5 star rating.

For believers and skeptics alike...excellent research and an entertaining read!
This book -- and the research behind it -- is truly life-changing. The negative health effects of nonnative Electromagnetic Fields are just now becoming apparent to a small minority of people, and it's so important that the word gets out to more and more people. I bought this book already being a believer in the harmful effects of EMFs, but the book broke down all the history, hazards, and easy solutions in an easy to understand way. The main reason I got this book is because I was hoping it could be used to shed light on the issue for some of my friends and family members who are less aware, and I got exactly what I wanted. Whether you already have an understanding of some of the things that our WIFI, cellular, and bluetooth devices are doing to our health and energy or you're a skeptic, this book truly has it all. Excellent research and an entertaining read!

While reading The Non-Tinfoil Guide to EMFs, the quote from Saint- Exupery’s novella, The Little Prince, kept running through my mind: “What is essential is invisible to the eye!"

Although used in a very different context, this little nugget of wisdom could also be referring to the relationship of one’s essential health to the myriad of invisible electromagnetic fields that surround us every day. Nicolas Pineault, in a very understandable, readable manner, presents the science and research that reveals the dangers of being exposed to these various electromagnetic fields. Then he tells us what we can do about it.

This book not only belongs on top of your “Must Read” list but also on top of your “To Do” list as it is filled with many easy to implement strategies to protect you from these invisible invaders. The author will introduce you to new ways of safely interacting with your devices like keeping your cell phone in airplane mode and shutting off your WIFI at night. You might even find yourself convinced enough to run out (like I did!) to buy an EMF meter to measure these scary frequencies.

I highly recommend you pick-up a copy of this book. I would then recommend you do your friends and family a favor and put it on top of your “Christmas List” for them, too. You’ll all be forever grateful!

The technology is great but we need to use it wisely
I've known for years about negative effect of EMFs but didn't know how much they affect us. I got rid of cordless phones, stopped using my microwave and limited the use of my cellphone several years ago. But WiFi was still running at night not too far from my bedroom. After reading this book I wired my computer and hired an EMF expert to evaluate my home. I'm glad I did--he found a couple of problematic areas and ironically those were places where I spent a lot of time. I highly recommend this book. It's easy to read and understand and it's well written. Thank you, Nicolas, for raising awareness about EMFs!

My favorite book on the topic
I've read a few books on the topic and this is definitely the best one I've come across. I am grateful to the author for putting together a clear signal amidst the noise.

The topic of EMF's can quickly become overwhelming both conceptually and emotionally. Fortunately this author provides the information in a clear, simple, cogent way that is easily understood. He writes with levity, in a personable tone, and keeps all the information bite size. He provides clear advice on how to mitigate EMF's in your daily life. And most importantly he backs each claim with a source or explanation, and makes a clear discernment between what there is evidence for (cause for concern) vs. what is actually proven (not disputable).

Radiation Nation is technical and contained very little advice for how to actually mitigate emf's.
Zapped is outdated, and sprinkled with occasional unsubstantiated woo-woo statements that cast doubt on the rest of the book.
Non Tin Foil guide: 1.) breaks down the science of emf's, (doesn't go super deep into it, but is a great intro to get a grasp on the basics) 2.) is discerning in regards to the evidence of health impacts, 3.)very easy to read and reference with excellent charts, graphs, images, 4.)It breaks down action items and their level of priority.

Finally! An EMF protection book written by English speaking ...
Finally! An EMF protection book written by English speaking author, Nicholas Pennault who is open minded enough to acknowledge that "there might be some merit" in the effectiveness of "EMF harmonizing" devices. A quote from his book, The Non-Tinfoil Guide to EMF's:
"I fully intend to dive deeper in the subject in the future because there are thousands of testimonials and dozens of well designed studies showing the efficacy of some of these products in reducing symptoms of electro-hypersensitivity even when placebo controlled."

I hope he does, he should check out the work of Dr, Konstantin Meyl and his work on scalar waves.

Great job, thanks!

Eye-opener

Wow.. I’ve known for quite some time that EMFs and specifically the radiation from phones can be harmful but dang... I was amazed to see the research on how soon we can experience negative effects from even low doses/exposure - well below the woefully inadequate and outdated telecommunications act of 1996 allows...
I was particularly concerned by the part about scrolling on your phone while it’s on your belly destroying beneficial bacteria and making you susceptible to illness..

I was rushing to the solutions chapter pretty soon after I started, to see what I could find. I’ll no longer be complacent about this issue especially when it comes to keeping my family safe...
On a broader note, I hope that the regulations catch up, if not in the US, then at least everywhere else.. ...more

3.5 stars: Recommended- a semi-transparent overview but a warning...
I was disappointed by this book initially because it didn't have the depth I was looking for. However, I came to appreciate it more after looking at similar books, which tend to be very dogmatic and one-sided.

PRO: The author is fair enough to admit that EMF may turn out to be relatively harmless (we may not know for decades). He offers a very sketchy survey of the science and concludes with steps the reader can implement to mitigate their exposure to EMF (the simplest step is to turn off your wifi and wireless devices at night).

CON: A much better book would have dug into the underlying science with a critical view of the various studies he cites and whether they've been replicated or not. (The problem with his survey is that ~50% of bio-medicine is wrong* and it's impossible to tell which bin the "EMF is bad for you" studies belong in because no long-term randomized clinical trials have been done. Even if the negative effects are real, they may not matter for all practical purposes if the effects are "tiny".)

One of the possible mechanisms for harm is that EMF reduces melatonin levels during sleep (melatonin appears to protect against cancer ). But light at night (LAN) also reduces melatonin levels so perhaps LAN is a bigger concern than EMF (TBD). Despite my skepticism, I decided to turn off my wifi router and DECT phone at night to reduce my EMF exposure. Since they're in my bedroom, this also reduces my LAN exposure i.e. "kills two birds with one stone".

*Read Harris' "Rigor Mortis" + Kendrick's "Diagnosing Data" + "Ending Medical Reversal" to understand why 50% of bio-medicine is wrong.

Thanks, but I won't have this without tinfoil, because corruption makes it inseparable.
Removing the so called 'tinfoil' from this subject means he's only dealing with a small fragment of the actual issue.
It amounts to acting as if no intent and no corruption/collusion on a global level was involved...

Good luck with the simplistic world view, complete lack of awareness of the parties involved and their next big thing: 5G
:p

Interesting reading, Sends a reasonable warning, We should be concerned!
Book presents a sufficient case for concern. We should be taking reasonable steps to minimizing EMF exposure. Book author writes with a humor that makes the technological information easier to stay with. Author does a good job of convincing the reader of the meaningless of current FCC guidelines for cellphone safety. Another example of government servicing the health of big business over that of the individual.

Good but poorly organized
Good concept, contains most of the basic info most people need, free of fear mongering and alarmism. But I find the layout a bit confusing and the format exhausting... too many different fonts, crowded and busy pages . And no index! The writing is rather sloppy in places. This book needs a professional editor and designer. I also think there are too many references with no indication of which studies actually hold water and are good quality. Still, thumbs up because a book like this is sorely needed and it covers a lot of good stuff.

Understandable
I have been trying to figure out the language of EMF for a while now in an attempt to see if we had a lot of risk in our house. This book gives a great summary of the types and the units of measurement associated with them. I love the tiered levels of how to deal with the radiation, especially the suggestions that are easy to do and make a difference in exposure.

Great information and tips to reduce emf’s in your life. There’s much more to it than keeping your phone on ‘airplane’ mode. And Nick lays it out in easy to understand simple steps, from cheap and easy up to more advanced analysis using experts. I love all the resources he provides as well. I didn’t even know Building Biologists were a thing.
I already implemented the ‘cheap and easy’ tips for reducing the fields in my bedroom last night. Haven’t slept that well in a long time. Thanks Nick!

Okay, now I'm making some changes in my home. This was a super easy to read and understand guide. Pineaunt lays out the facts without cherry picking. Well done! Could have used an editor as some sentences weren't proofed but you still get what he intended to say. I plan on sharing this with family and friends.

Some of you are no doubt wondering if it's possible for a "guide to EMFs" to be "non-tinfoil."
Yes, it is, and this one was excellent.
"EMFs" are Electromagnetic fields, which are created by things like your cellphone, microwaves, wifi routers, power lines, etc.
With such huge advances in technology the last few decades, humans are currently being exposed to huge amounts of EMFs, and the big question is whether they have any effects - especially detrimental effects - on humans.

This book did a great job of presenting the facts - which are pretty much that not nearly enough research has been done on the subject, and the little research that has been done suggests that there likely are some harmful effects and it's worth taking some precautions to limit EMF exposure.
This is one of my favorite books that I've read so far this year - the author was able to take a subject that's often misunderstood and present it in an easy to understand, realistic way. This book was funny, easy to read, looked at possible pros and cons of EMFs in a realistic way, and presented causes for concern and practical ways to deal with those concerns in a down to earth manner that was completely free of overboard fearmongering, "we're all gonna die!" type propaganda.
Highly recommend! ...more

Interesting Information

The book was humorous and informative. It gave me a lot to think about and practical solutions as well. It’s also scary to think that products are available for use long before research is done on safety.
