What I liked:
1) Gorgeous photos
2) Decorating projects that have been featured on Sarah's various shows
3) Proves that even the smallest, or oddest shaped, rooms can be beautifully decorated

What I didn't like:
1) No resource lists - no paint brands/colors, no wallpaper brand/design names, no tile names/colors, etc.
2) Not much detail with regards to why certain design decisions were made
3) Captions talk about things that aren't in the photos

I wish there was more detail about the various projects What I liked:

My favorite TV designer has written a book and I was eager to get my hands on a copy. She details many of the rooms that have been featured on her various decorating shows and I loved the leisure of looking at the rooms to my heart's content. Highly recommended for those who love Sarah Richardson as much as I do and just can't get enough Sarah!

I have been a fan since before her show "room service"... the dream is to live in a fully Sarah Richardson designed home.

I've was first introduced to Sarah Richardson on HGTV and I think she was pregnant with her first child. Her style is fresh and crisp and I have thoroughly enjoyed watching how she brings a room together. This book culminates all of what I have watched on TV. She is truly a gem.

Great photos, not so great written content. I like her colorful but still classic style.

I'm not rating this because I am not the right audience for this book. I think I am too old and too much of a "use what you have" decorating type of person. At this stage of my life I no longer want more and more "stuff". Each season of the year I change the decorations in my house, and at each change I am donating a little more to people who need more interest and color in their homes. I want to end up with only things I really love. The less I put out, the less I have to put away. It makes me I'm not rating this because I am not the right audience for this book. The "Sarah" I like is Sarah Susanka. Her books have helped me create a cozy inviting home. Her ideas on lighting changes in a room for different types of activities really made a difference. ...more

I read from page 1 to 339 fascinated by how the rich people live. I was disappointed that she didn't go into what I consider normal homes or budgets. How many people have bedrooms big enough for a chair and table, desk etc. The bathrooms were out of this world beautiful and something out of a star magazines article. So from start to finish I found very little that I could use a few knick knack ideas and the like and that's it.

I should be ashamed of myself for wasting so much time reading this book but I did find it interesting my husband mentioned yesterday when I was reading it that it looked I was really getting into it.
I don't recommend it if you are normal income high middle class won't do it unless you like to star gaze. ...more

I LOVED Sarah Richardson's tv programs. Many of the rooms featured on television are in this book, lovely to revisit. The book is as bright and cheery as all things Sarah. That being said, I would have liked some sources, if only the names of paint colors, carpet and hardware. This is a breezy book.

The pictures are nice, but if you want details about products used in the book, you may be disappointed. It would have been useful to know the name of a paint color that was featured, or where to buy a piece of furniture that was shown.

Some lovely photos here, but not all that useful for typical homeowners who have limited space and a budget. I was also disappointed that Sarah's personality didn't come across much. I'll stick with watching her on TV!

A very sophisticated book of design. I have a traditional style and while in each design there is something modern, Sarah's style comes through on every page. There are also tutorials in case you want to design your home to the book and this is a thick book full of style!

Beautiful pictures but a little too uppity for me. I'll stick to just watching reruns of Sarah's House instead.

Beautiful book and well designed. Most of the rooms a little too "refined" for me and formal though.

It was a fine book, certainly very pretty to look at, but I do not think that I am the appropriate target audience.

I doubt I can afford to put together rooms the way Ms. Richardson does, and at any rate she offers no tips on where she sources her pieces or information on the prices. Perhaps this information was at the back but I did not see it.

I guess this is one of those aspirational, "in a perfect world" books. To that extent, like I said, it was just fine. ...more

I'm very often wishing and longing to have the design of my home be something different (I'm not talking renovation, I'm talking using the very best I can what we've got). Hence, this book. :) Lots to muddle through, lots that didn't apply to me, but it was still a lovely browse... and I did find some much-needed insights for my own space. For now I'll consider this book the next best thing.

My main personal take-away...

Be honest, ask the questions and push up against the status quo of what IS. What purpose does this space need to serve, functionally and aesthetically? Then challenge the items in the space to meet that criteria. Strive to have items that pass the test - LOVE and USE.

Color color COLOR. I may not be able to go bold with lasting pieces or elements, because this is a shared home :) -- but I LOVE COLOR, and I need to be a bit more spontaneous and confident with the ways I can add interest and joy in the accents of our home. ...more

Nice coffee table book. Beautiful pictures. But not much content. She doesn't give any info about paint colors, fabrics, furniture, etc. And the print is tiny and hard to read!

She is a very good designer! 5 stars for what this is. I mean...it's not an intense novel. She mixes style so it's not the same ho hum stuff. Awesome pics!

I read briefly in this book and quickly decided it was not for me. There were so many extra details that I didn't think were necessary or affordable for regular people.

Some of the houses are very nice but some just look dated in style. I remember some of the homes from her shows 3 or more years ago.

I love the show, and absolutely loved this book. Can't wait for her to do another... or could we get Tommy Smythe to do one? Love!

Great photos, but i was hoping for more how to i guess. It didn't live up to my expectation. There are many rooms in the book i don't care for the style, which is strange as i loved Sarah's shows.
