If you're a "crafter" then this is the book for you. Bright, crisp photographs are accompanied by step-by-step instructions teaching the reader how to make 25 types of beautiful paper plants and flowers. These are not your construction paper school projects either (although I think many of the patterns could be modified for classroom use). These are not your construction paper school projects either (although I think many of the patterns could be modified for classroom use). These are beautiful projects--roses, dahlias, daisies, carnations, sunflowers, and more. The projects start simple, but become more complex, building on previously-learned skills. The text is dense because the author not only tells you how to make these projects but offers insights into color, design, texture, and more. Modifications are suggested. Information about paper weight, optional materials, tools, and even how to create some of your own tools is included. The author is also careful to point out common mistakes and encourage safe practices. There are templates in the back of the book, and clever examples of how you can use these designs to enhance parties, weddings, or any festive occasion. Truly, if done correctly, these paper flowers would make a lovely gift, a beautiful centerpiece, or the perfect enhancement to any room. Anyone receiving them should recognize not only the thought, but the time and effort involved in their creation. And there will be a lot of time and effort involved. However, the final results will be worth it. ...more

I'm always on the look out for new crafts to make for home, at work, or to share with others. This book has fairly clear and concise step by step photo instructions to make 25 mostly known flowers. I had made his version of English Rose before using felt in a craft program at the library so I tried a few additional flowers. The mum was easy to make and would be really pretty at various sizes. I also tried the orchid but struggled a bit with which side of each circle I was connecting.

I appreciated the initial pages of instruction, design consideration, and encouragement to "aspire to imperfection". If I thought that anything was wanting it would be more inspiration ideas than the few at the end. Soooo I make all these ranunculus, asters, zinnias, cattails, and cosmos but what do I do with them? I needed to see more of them in action in a room for scale and design ideas.

Jeffery Rudell designs paper creations that are stylishly simple with a bold dash of wow power. Each one of the 132 pages is bright and colorful, the flowers are accompanied by clear instructions and photographs, and the necessary materials and tools are not exotic.

I like the way the book is arranged with general paper crafting information and the easiest flowers in the front. Beginners can start there and build their skills as they go. Just wait until you see the clever way Jeffery shows how to make a sunflower... it caught my eye right away!

I received a copy of this book to review on my blog; the opinions presented here are completely my own. ...more

Lovely, user-friendly papercraft book focusing very specifically on flowers. Only simple tools are needed -- the author recommends a couple of great cheats for the one thing you might not have on hand. Focuses on techniques rather than projects, tho the author does recommend specific papers to achieve specific effects.

This one can be used by everyone from classroom teachers to the most elegant party planners. Superb!

Some of the flower patterns look more realistic than others. If you are interested in paper creations that somewhat resemble flowers, then this book is great, but if you are looking for paper that could be confused for an actual flower, this only has a few options that are truly spot on replicas of flower blooms. So depending on your motivation, this book may or may not be a good fit for your projects.

One of the funniest artisian crafty books i have read in a long time. The paper blooms techniques and directions are clear and concise. I can't wait to make some of these and incorporate them into my art. Flowers range from Asters to Zinnias (my fav flower), the technique range from super easy to difficult, but as the author states PATIENCE. And a direct quote from the book " Imperfection is Beauitful!" Isn't that just the best!

I don't know that I'd actually ever MAKE any of these flowers, but they're very clever and most of them seem like they'd be attainable... I renewed the book from the library so I have another couple of weeks to think about it!

Lovely pictures and step by step. When I have time I would love to try to make some of those flowers.
