I was recommended my my naturopath to follow the blood type diet. I read Eat Right For Your Type, but wanted something that focused strictly on the A diet. Christiano's book was a good overview for the recommended menu. It included background of the A blood type; symptoms that As can have if they are not eating for their blood type; lists of beneficial, neutral, and harmful foods for As; and meal plans. It also touched on activities that As should engage in (yoga, meditation, light exercise) and I was recommended my my naturopath to follow the blood type diet. I read Eat Right For Your Type, but wanted something that focused strictly on the A diet. Christiano's book was a good overview for the recommended menu. It included background of the A blood type; symptoms that As can have if they are not eating for their blood type; lists of beneficial, neutral, and harmful foods for As; and meal plans. It also touched on activities that As should engage in (yoga, meditation, light exercise) and the lifestyle that would be best for As (avoiding stressors to the A blood type - crowds, loud noises, strong odors like smoke and perfume, etc.)

Overall I found this book to be helpful. Of course this guy has a website and was pushing his products like the "blood type specific" protein powder and vitamins. I also found it weird that he also had cookies and bars on the site, but to each their own. I am at the point where I feel I need to follow this diet and will follow his recommendations, but probably stay away from vitamins, protein powders, etc. that I would need to buy from the website. ...more

My blood type is A, so I reviewed the book that Joseph wrote specifically for my blood type group. I found a lot of the information interesting, but I don’t forsee myself making all of the changes he recommends for my specific blood type.

According to this book, I should be eating mostly vegetarian. While I do eat a lot of fruits and vegetables and LOVE veggie burgers, I still like ground turkey, chicken and fish. I think I would be miserable if I ate only a vegetarian diet. I also learned that My blood type is A, so I reviewed the book that Joseph wrote specifically for my blood type group. I found a lot of the information interesting, but I don’t forsee myself making all of the changes he recommends for my specific blood type.

I think I would be miserable if I ate only a vegetarian diet. I also learned that my blood tends to be a bit thicker than other blood types, due to a genetic predisposition. The premise for these books being written for each specific blood type is that based on our blood, our bodies react differently to foods. Type A’s have reactions to meat and wheat. Type O’s do not tend to have this same reaction. Certain foods can be linked to weight issues or illnesses, and by eating according to your blood type, the author states that you can enjoy better health and weight loss success by fine tuning your diet according to your body’s needs. Interesting theories and research. It's saddening to me that apparently the diet that is best for my blood type is completely opposite from everything that I enjoy in food.

Interesting perspective. All of the smoothie recipes included a powder that you are to buy at the author's website. Toward end of the book, a big push to go to his website for supplements and other reasons.
