There is simply no other textbook as effective in getting
students excited about and involved with psychology as Plotnik's
exceptional text. Using his hallmark "multimedia on the printed page"
approach, Rod Plotnik makes the concepts of psychology come to life!

Plotnik's book is far more than just a good read and a compelling
presentation--it is also a book written by a teacher committed to
helping students master the content of psychology. From the side-by-side
visual summaries to the concept reviews, Plotnik's text is designed
throughout for student mastery. Professors report that all the important
content is covered in the Plotnik book--in a way that "hooks" students
and gets them to read on. And Plotnik's commitment to teaching extends
into the ancillaries that accompany the text. The activities in the
Instructor's Manual are exciting, original, and offer truly innovative
ways to get students involved in the concepts of the course.

In many
of today's psychology classrooms, the printed pages are just the
beginning! In this exciting new Sixth Edition, the Learning Links
feature references to the exciting NEW text-specific PowerStudy CD-ROM,
developed by Rod Plotnik himself, in conjunction with Tom Doyle. Guided
by the CD-ROM and the in-text references, students will launch into
whole new worlds of interactive learning and exploration.

Reviews for Introduction to Psychology (High School/Retail Version):

I got it for my Psychology class, but I particularly liked how the material was written--not your typical dry textbook (unless of course if you hate Psychology), which is why I kept the book rather than sell it back at the end of the semester. There are quite a lot of interesting things to be learned from it. I would say this is a 4.5 out of 5.

I've read a couple of pages, binge read themvI would say. I was standing in our college library and I was just hooked, I couldn't move.

Love psychology, I don't study it, but I find it so relatable to all the things I went -and still going- through.

Highly recommend it if you just love to learn about how humans -including yourself- are wired.

Grabbed it at a library sale, it's out of date but there's still plenty o learn from it.

Total rubbish.
I tried to find an alternative to Gleitman textbook which seems too academic to me.
I've read a chapter on a subject I already familiar with and it's like snaps taken from googling on the subject.

I had to get this book for my "General Psychology" class. We used it for quizzes, exams, discussion posts, journals and a paper. It was a great book if you love psychology (which I don't) and are majoring in it. I am only giving this book a 5 star because it was great for that class.

About half-way through the term. Book is appalling so far, and I can't imagine it gets much better. Either way, I must slog through to the end.

Update: second half of the textbook is not as awful, but not worth upgrading my rating from one star, either.

Ah yes, critical to pass the course. An interesting, easy-to-grab-the-concept type of book.
