A longtime favorite of mine. I've been a Tubby Tabby fan all my life.Sep 14, 2011
I think the first three books in the Garfield series are the best because they're the most classic. Jim Davis has created (in my perspective) a true masterpiece. Jon, my favorite character can be so dumb and not even know it. I feel bad for Odie. Garfield beats on him and Odie lets him. I guess Odie is just that stupid. In my opinion, Garfield is just misunderstood. He's a glutton because he loves food and Jon can't hear him when Garfield insults him. In other words Garfield lives in a house full of clueless people that love it when they hear that something is a "no-brainer". ...moreApr 14, 2009
I just love the old Garfield comics.. Not the cartoons on TV, just the old 3 or 6 box comic strips.Dec 27, 2013
Garfield has always been one of my favourite cartoon characters so allow me to be biased and say there's never a dull moment with this one! And you just can't have enough!Aug 24, 2017
I grew up watching Garfield, but this is my first time reading more than an occasional strip. Also my last. It works better as a cartoon telling an extended story that can hide the fact Davis only uses 4 or 5 jokes over and over again. He also reuses panels so much it was distracting. I'm sure it's a necessity in a daily environment, but I've been reading a lot of comic strip collections lately and I've never actually noticed it before. My hero, Garfield! The introduction to the world's best orange-striped, lasagna-loving comic cat. As well as how Odie came to be with him, Pooky, and (ick) Nermal. Although Garfield was really quite mean in these first books, especially to Odie. I had to subtract a star for his real meanness, but it was a fun read overall. Garfield is that classic that will never go away or get boring. If my cat could talk this is how she would act.Jan 22, 2016

Is it really necessary to review Garfield of all things? I was born in '92 and so I've grown up with Garfield my entire life. Garfield is like an uncle that keeps telling bad jokes and repeating himself but you can't help love. It's hard to put together a book of newspaper cartoons and expect freshness for each because there are just so many of them. Doing a daily cartoon is hard work, and these are the earliest of Garfield. Wow. Is this book funny! When I first read this, I thought oh please. Comics? But when I read it, it was hilarious. The strips never get old, and everybody's favorite cat, Garfield, is the funniest comic I have ever read. If you are considering not reading this, reconsider.Feb 22, 2013
Love Garfield! It's really interesting to see how the artwork changed over the course of the first few years.Mar 01, 2012
