Our lives become busier with each passing day, and as
technology escalates, so does our access to work, obligations, and
stress. Constant stimulation and expectation have left us burnt out and
distanced from the present moment. "Now" has become something that
happens online, not in the space and time that we physically occupy.
Color Me Calm is a guided coloring book designed for harried
adults. Art therapist Lacy Mucklow and artist Angela
Porter
offer up 100 coloring templates all designed to help you get
coloring and get relaxed. Organized into seven therapeutically-themed
chapters including Mandalas, Water Scenes, Wooded Scenes, Geometric
Patterns, Flora & Fauna, Natural Patterns, and Spirituality - the book
examines the benefits of putting pencil to paper and offers adults an
opportunity to channel their anxiety into satisfying, creative
accomplishment. Part of the international bestselling Color Me
series, Color Me Calm is the perfect way step back from the
stress of everyday life, color, and relax!

I have a confession: I'm 40 years old and I love coloring books. This is perhaps the best one I've seen. Its mandalas, water scenes, wooded scenes, geometric patterns, flora and fauna, and other natural patterns all contain perfect level of detail. Recommendation: Enlarge them onto 8 1/2 x 11 drawing paper.

A friend gave it to me with a box of Crayola Twistable colored mechanical pencils-- they're the perfect thickness for this book.

Here's an example from the Natural Patterns chapter:

One hundred calming pictures and patterns broken up into six chapters of different themes. And with the examples given at the beginning of each chapter, you’re encouraged to go beyond filling in a piece of detail, but shading it with an additional color, giving your artwork a little more depth. Of course you can do it however you like.

The cover is stiffer than a paperback, but not quite as thick or stiff as a hardcover.

Got this as a Christmas present. Thank you!

I love this book! It is evident that a great deal of thought and care went into creating this book (choosing the drawings, organization, and layout of the book) by the licensed art therapist and the artist who created this beautiful and effective book.

It is excellent quality, has thick strong paper, and wonderful designs.

I love the introduction and the writings before each chapter of pictures to color. Reading her writing already made me feel calm and reminded me of the importance of scheduling time to do some things simply for sheer enjoyment, creativity, and relaxation.

It is clear that the creators took their time in writing these entries and creating the book.

The book even smells good!

I bought it for a friend. Though I have a different adult meditative coloring book for myself, I really want to have this one and will buy it for myself, too.

I am struck by this particular book, as I've seen it a few times now, and keep feeling impressed by the quality. I keep feeling drawn back to this book.

There are other coloring books, designed for adults, but I think the care and design that went into creating this one, make it the best I have seen.

I bought it for a friend for her Birthday, and I know that I would really enjoy having a copy for myself, too. I look forward to giving the current copy to my friend. I know she will love it and use it, well. ...more

This (plus a set of really high quality markers) is by far the best thing I've added to my classroom this year. Students LOVE it, and so do I. Beautiful and calming, a very grounding activity for the ADHD among us.
