I'll just keep this Short & Sweet...

I loved these books.
I’m loving the series.
I’ll re-read the current three books when the new one is released in 2014. “I want there to be happily-ever-afters for the fucked-up crowd. Show me the way, Eva honey. Two victims of sexual abuse, who hide the scars of their pasts from the world, are learning how to function in a relationship.
That resonates with me. Take it or leave it.

For the fourth book, I predict that (view spoiler)[we will learn it was Clancy is the one who planted the bracelet on the Mob member, thereby covering for Cross. (hide spoiler)]

And speaking of the fourth book, Captivated by You, as well as for the untitled Fifth book in the Crossfire Series:

Loved book 1,2, && 3!!! I liked them more than 50 Shades of Grey!! I picked up book 3 by accident, in need of a book to entertain me while I spent hours in the hospital. As I read I couldn't help but feel that there was more prior to what was going on, so I did some research. After finding out there were books 1 & 2, I put down book 3. I immediately downloaded 1 & 2, and began reading. I fell in love with the story....no not because of the sex. I look past all the sex. What I saw Loved book 1,2, && 3!!! What do I think about the series continuing with a #4 & #5 book? As Gideon Cross would say, "CROSSFIRE!" I want MORE MORE MORE! These books are so addicting that I read the series three times already. Thank you Sylvia Day for a wonderfully fabulous series and I can't wait for #4 & #5.

Please let's stop spewing all the hate and damnation for Sylvia Day and give her kudos where it is due. This series is probably up there as a very Contemporary Classic & Timeless Romance Series. I mean they are going to make it into a TV show for a reason. No more negativity for Silvia Day. Let's celebrate the love between Gideon and Eva and hope that this really does have a HEA!!!? ...more

i can't believe there is a book 4 and 5!!! i agree with all the 1 star reviews. this book was about nothing. no plot, one dimensional characters, and lots of loose ends. eva keeps trying to convince herself how much her man loves her, but she is so inmature and insecure and gets jealous over the littlest things, or thinks the worse of things when Gideon doesn't respond the way she does. I really don't believe there is a guy like Gideon out there. I really don't believe there is a guy like Gideon out there. The character is not very believeable at all. he owns everything he touches: restaurants, gyms, salons, you name it and no man says the things he says. ultimately cheesy. it's even so sick to read because of all these supposed "can't live without you mushy" crap he keeps repeating. there are way too many descriptions of the description of his muscles and how amazing he looks. in fact there isn't one ugly character in the book. eva keeps talking about nathan. my goodness, get over it, he's gone, it's over. and what happened to megumi? and who cares about the mark and steven who are getting married? it's almost like "love actually" with all these different story lines that don't tie in together with a bunch of sex. it's hard to keep reading when eva is so needy and baby like. she and gideon don't grow as characters at all. still the same messed up people as you read in the first book. no needs to drag it to book 4 and 5. this book was a waste of time and so boring. i started skimming half way just to get to the end and be disappointed that it wasn't a trillogy. ...more

Had preordered the third volume, which just came out today, and finished it in 8 hours.

If you liked Fifty Shades, you will love the Bared to You series. The writing is so much better, the characters are so much more flawed, the sexuality is nonstop.

Sylvia Day does an awesome job. Can't wait for the next installment.

I was a little apprehensive when ordering this book after reading the reviews. I loved the first 2 and this did not disappoint. Yes there is a lot of sex but that's what Gideon and Eva are about and the story goes on around them. I love the fact that Cary is now having serious relationship problems of his own and they are trying to work them out together as friends. Whilst Gideons past always seems to be coming back to haunt them it now seems that Eva is about to get a whole lot of trouble I was a little apprehensive when ordering this book after reading the reviews. Extreme ridiculousness. I was going to give this series 2 stars for writing that was a notch above 50 shades, but I am taking the extra star away for prolonging this madness through two more books. Also, the constant references to Gideon shaking back his mane of sultry black hair really got to me after a while. I didn't know whether to picture Fabio, a guy with a mullet, or what. No thanks.

Well I see that a lot of people are very upset about Sylvia Day extending this book series! I for I am really happy! I love the Crossfire books! I do how ever feel that the books so slow and only a few days pas when it should be months. With that being said I will be the first in line to buy both the 4th and 5th book!

I said I was going to pace myself, but I couldn't. I love Gideon and Eva. A lot happened in this phase of their journey, but Sylvia made sure to leave us wanting more, as there are many unanswered questions. My favorite quote, "For your convenience, I'm aready unwrapped. Batteries not required."

This last book was pretty steamy!! I think I love Gideon even more after this one. It was too short for me and I'm a little ticked because now I have to wait for yet another book!!! I love me some Gideon Cross!!

I should be reading all the ARC books I have been gifted, but instead I am writing about a series that makes my knees weak. And SHOCKER it isn’t a historical romance series! It’s the story of Gideon and Eva from the Crossfire Series.
I started reading these shortly after I read Fifty Shades of Grey, as it was billed as a close contender. Premise similar – hot guy, billionaire, into control and HOT sex scenes. However I found the Crossfire series different than FOSG. I started reading these shortly after I read Fifty Shades of Grey, as it was billed as a close contender. Premise similar – hot guy, billionaire, into control and HOT sex scenes. However I found the Crossfire series different than FOSG. I found there was a lot more emotion and intensity. For someone who is not really turned on by a woman being tied up and screwed, this series was everything Fifty Shades was missing.
Gideon is a dream hero. He is hot, wealthy, and an amazing sex machine. Eva is screwed up, beautiful, independent and his kryptonite. I found the story of these two to be mesmerizing (and somewhat unrealistic, but hey this is escapism at it’s best). I adored the story of how the two met and how he chased her and ultimately won her interest. I actually stopped and thought about what I would say if a guy asked me who I was fucking so he could get with me. Kinda hot.
Sex takes a centre stage in these books. No doubt about it. If Sylvia Day was influenced by Fifty Shades of Grey, then awesome because the results are SO much better. Yes Gideon has his issues and so does Eva, but point me to someone over the age of twenty who doesn’t need to drink with girlfriends or see a therapist and I’m shocked.
The pair are sexually addicted to each other and the author writes the sex scenes so well. They are explicit, but man, if you don’t want to be Eva or a fly on the wall, then you are not warm blooded. These books are super charged with scenarios. Even one of these scenes in my life would be forever remembered.
There is an element of murder/suspense involving Eva’s past and it serves as a plot device to move the action along. The separation of the characters only makes it more hot when they do connect. Are you sensing a thread? These books are hot. Some reviews have commented that it’s only minimal plot between sex scenes, but I personally feel that the author really elaborates on the psyches of the characters and why they do the things they do – even if they make little sense since they could be having more hot sex if they stopped being stupid.
I liked Eva. She’s spunky and challenging. She issues ultimatums that I wish I could have the nerve to deliver. She has suffered in the past, but found a real soulmate in Gideon.
Gideon is every woman’s fantasy. He’s been abused and hurt, but man can he be sexy and alpha male. I would love to be in the presence of a man like this. That’s where the author’s talent lies. She makes you want him. In every way. You want to heal him, fuck him and hold him always. I have never met a man like Gideon and probably won’t, but that is what makes these books so awesome. He is unattainable, yet you read it anyway, hoping that the next job interview or coffee run will reveal a Gideon for your own.
Now onto the controversy. When these books were originally published, they were supposed to be a triology like Fifty Shades of Grey. However, when the last one was published OVER A YEAR AGO, it was revealed it was a five parter. UPROAR and outrage on Amazon. I was feeling a little let down too. However I was all for reading more about Gideon and Eva, however there has been no date given for the next book in the series. I check Sylvia Day’s website regulary and nothing. Nada. Zip. She has published other series and books, but nothing for the Crossfire series. Don’t bite the hand that feeds you. I’ve read some of her other books, mostly the Highlander series, but this is the one that holds my interest and to not have even a publication date is bad. I feel like I am so invested in Eva and Gideon that I could write the next book. Don’t keep your fans waiting!
My husband is a lucky man because I have read this series and keep re-reading it. It’s smoking hot and exciting and I am dying for the next book to get a release date. Even though I review historical romance fiction, I will make sure to do a review of Captivated With You. Whenever it gets published…grumble, grumble, grumble

Trashy, brash beach reading only.

The people are one dimensional, and the conspicuous consumption is rife in this book. However, that is what you want from your beach reading. Just ridiculous shallow characters and that is what you get.

The storylines are paper thin, and I think the evil characters that crop up could have been a wee bit more dastardly!

The erotic scenes are fairly predictable and inoffensive. At the end, you could have your own drinking game and take a shot every time certain Trashy, brash beach reading only.

My only real criticism of the books is that some themes should be treated with a wee bit more sensitivity.

Although, this seems quite a critical review, i did quite enjoy the books. I read all three of them. I quite liked the overblown melodrama of it all. They were all quite quick reads. It required no real thought, but it passed the time quickly.

I would not urge anyone to go out and buy them, but worth a borrow if you like these glamorous bonkbusters. ...more

WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! I like a little sex as much as the next person but come on Sylvia Day please try and build a story around it! The story line of this book is poor, a lot of things were left unanswered such as Eva's father finding out about Nathan molesting her, Eva's parent's and even the relationship between Eva and Brett. I wish this had been a trilogy with more of a story line to this book and then an ending because quite honestly I loved the first 2 books in the series but this one WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! Really loved books 1&2 maybe even more than Fifty Shades it seemed liked we waited ages for book 3 and although I hate to say this I was quite disappointed with it. I actually read the first few chapters then didn't pick the book up again for a day or so which is really unlike me as I've read many books in a day . Felt it was really slow and feel a bit predictable, think Sylvia will have to really pull something out the bag for books 4&5.

Maybe if she would have condensed all 3 of these books into one and concluded the story instead of going on to a fourth...maybe it wouldnt be so bad. As is, it is a waste of time and I want back all the hours I spent reading these dumb books.

Well, it's better than FSOG that's for sure. What I found weird about this series is first of all how they went from having one or two encounters together and suddenly deciding 'yes, we are going to date and be soul mates now' in the space of a chapter. That's not realistic and I think Sylvia Day could have done better.

There are quite a few loose threads in this series and Eva has an inconsistent growth by the end of the series, but all that being said, it reads well and it's entertaining enough.

Beach reading only. Fast reading but author could have done so much on story line and missed the opportunity, trying to focus on only the sex and smut story line that did so little for the actual story. I think she was trying too hard to win out the glory of The Shades of Grey series and lost in her attempt.
