This is a beautiful coffee table book with fantastic full page pictures of landscaped gardens from the authors historic home and extensive grounds (50+ acres). This is not a technical book but rather is a garden tour through a grand estate. The flowers predominate in this book and are portrayed in several short chapters devoted to roses, peonies, tulips, daffodils and other perennial flowers. The flower arrangements are amazing. Absolutely beautiful photography with gorgeous, lush gardens and scenery.

This book is exceptional. First of all, it's oversized--not even coffee table size, it's larger. I don't think I've ever seen a book this large before. Having said that, this book is absolutely gorgeous. The photography is wonderful and lush. The plants and gardens are lovely and photographed from numerous angles so you get a good sense of placement in the landscape. And sometimes there are photos of the same area in different seasons, which is also very nice to see.

The book is divided into logical sections that are easy to understand. And the writing is good, too, with a dry sense of humor injected here and there. Plus there are the author's illustrations of various plants and insects, which I found to be very nicely done. This gave a nice personal touch to the book.

And last but not least, as a dog-lover, it was nice to see photos of these beautiful gardens with all her dogs sniffing around in some of them. ...more

Wonderful coffee table book. I love that the author took the majority of images in this book. She has quite the eye and captures her gardens beautifully.
